Doesn't the state offer free tests kits? Is this True?
YES! TN considers radon such a serious health risk to its residents they do offer a free test kit which can be found HERE. There are a few drawbacks. It takes 6-8 weeks for the test to arrive, and only while supplies last. After the home test is complete you will mail it back in and wait on the lab report. The lab report will only have the radon average for the test period. While this is a useful number the average only tells a small piece of the story on the risk associated with the radon in your home. Was the radon level rising or falling on the second day? Was the atmospheric conditions of temperature and barometric pressure or wind taken into account? Well no... all you get is a raw average that can be deceptively high or deceptively low at times without the consideration of continuous data. Our monitors are continuous radon monitors that take real time easements through the test period to adequately fill in the blanks other test methods leave. You will receive a comprehensive report that is reviewed by a professional and communicated in a way to actually understand the results.
